Lincoln Luxury has been a popular slogan for some time now and the 2022 Lincoln Navigator continues to add to its’ credibility. The model that was delivered to us for review was the 4×4 Reserve Edition. The Lincoln Navigator is a full-size luxury SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company since the 1998. It is the luxury version of the Ford Expedition.
Upon first look you notice the chrome mesh grille stood out with the Lincoln logo placed prominently in the middle. The Navigator had a beautiful Pristine White Metallic paint job, adaptive LED headlights, LED tail lamps and LED fog lamps. It is massive in size but still stylish.
The interior was spacious luxurious. The Navigator can seat seven people in this Lincoln with sandstone leather upholstery and heated seats in both rows. The front seats also get ventilation, massaging front seats with 30-way power adjustments and a heated steering wheel. Other standard features include tri-zone automatic climate control, remote start, proximity keyless entry, a hands-free liftgate, front and rear parking sensors, Speed Sign Recognition, Phone As A Key and a rearview camera.
The Navigator runs with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 440-horsepower and 510 lb-ft. of torque. This is a great amount of power that pushes this beast to its limits. The model tested was 4-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Navigator has a very smooth ride overall. It gets up to speed fairly quickly and floats like a boat while you are cruising. Sharp turns will give you some body roll, but that is expected in a vehicle this size. The brakes were efficient and stopped the Navigator with more than enough safe distance between cars.
Lincoln’s standard SYNC 4 infotainment system features a 13.2-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, USB ports, satellite radio, premium stereo system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, Lincoln Play with Amazon Fire TV rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones and a panoramic sunroof.
Lincoln considers safety a top priority with features such as the pre-collision warning and braking system with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and lane keep assist all come standard in the Navigator.
Being a parent of two young children, car seats are an essential accessory in my ride. The Navigator has multiple sets of LATCH connectors for the captain second-row seats, while the third-row seats get a full set of LATCH connectors as well.
The Lincoln Navigator sits in a highly competitive class, amongst the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, Infiniti QX 80 and the Ford Expedition.
Lincoln’s warranty coverage roughly matches that of its competitors, but outshines the rest with four years or 50,000 miles of complimentary pick up/delivery service. A limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles and the powertrain warranty covers six years or 70,000 miles. The Reserve edition Navigator that I reviewed comes in at $102,715.00.
