The Nissan Altima SR comes in redesigned and fresh for 2023. This week we were able to get out and enjoy what the Altima had to offer. The Nissan Altima is a mid-size car that has been produced since 1992. It is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1955. Nissan discontinued the Stanza and replaced it with the Altima.
The model Altima sent to us was the 2.0 SR FWD sedan model that has the VC-Turbo. The SR is the Nissan Altima trim level for exciting performance. The 2023 Altima comes with a new front fascia, highlighting the dark chrome V-motion grill. The exterior has a sporty design that pops with the deep blue pearl hue that our review model came with. The Altima sits on 19” wheels and has LED headlights, LED fog lights, a rear spoiler and a SR grade emblem to top it off.
The Altima has seating for up to five people. The interior has a new dual-stitch interior fabric design. There is an 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support. Both the front bucket seats are heated. There is also NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seat design with dual-density foam. I loved the interior ambient lighting package that includes twenty different colors. The cargo and passenger space is more than enough to tote the family around and do all the fun things that have been planned for the outing.
The infotainment system in the Altima comes with a lot of cool features such as a 12.3” HD color touch-screen display, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri Eyes Free and USB ports. The Nissan Connect infotainment system also comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7” Advanced Drive-AssistTM Display, satellite radio and an upgraded eight speaker Bose premium audio sound system that helped pass the time as we were making our way around town.
The Nissan Altima is a peppy vehicle with 236 horsepower and 267 lb-ft torque from the 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo and continuously variable automatic transmission, the Altima has just enough power to be a great commuter vehicle. The engine can be bit noisy when really pushing it limits on the highway but it great for darting around town and has excellent mileage. The EPA rates the Altima at 25 mpg city, 34 mpg on the highway and 29 mpg combined.
Nissan makes safety a priority with the Nissan’s advanced ProPILOT Assist system which utilizes a forward-facing camera, forward-facing radar, sensors and more. The Altima also has the Safety Shield 360 that includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, radar-based Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist. There is also Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Traffic Sign Recognition and Intelligent Around View Monitor.
As a father of two young children the installation of child safety seats is important to me. There are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats. I found the LATCH system is easy to use in the Nissan Altima.
There is a growing demand for the Nissan Altima as it sits in a competitive midsize car class. Competitors such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Kia K5 and the Hyundai Sonata. The 2023 Nissan Altima SR that we reviewed comes in at $36,440.
Nissan offers a decent warranty package including a Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles and a Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles. No complimentary scheduled maintenance is offered at this time. The 2023 Nissan Altima is a great value vehicle with excellent fuel economy. The Altima has a nimble feel but I wouldn’t consider it an adrenaline filled ride. Commuting back and forth to work would be a breeze. Please enjoy the photo gallery.
