Infiniti has been making waves for years as the luxury vehicle division of Nissan. In the sports car realm, the G37 is legend. The Q45 was the definitely known as the one of the top luxury vehicles to own. When it came to large SUVS, the QX56 sat at the top of the hill. All of these vehicles now have new monikers but I decided to briefly take you down memory lane as a reminder of the prestige that Infiniti has. This week we are testing out Infiniti’s luxury SUV, the QX80.
The Infiniti QX80, formerly known as the QX56 until 2013 is a full-size luxury SUV marketed by Nissan’s luxury division Infiniti. The production model was revealed on March 20th, 2024 for the 2025 model year. The QX80 has four trim levels available; Pure, Luxe, Sensory and Autograph.
The luxurious 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a 8-passenger luxury SUV with a sharp exterior design and sporty appearance. Upon first look you notice the signature double arch grille inspired by shapes of the bamboo forest. The QX80 has multi-element LED daytime running lights with a bamboo forest motif, an illuminated INFINITI logo with a 3D-effect, flushed door handles, blacked-out door pillars and a full width LED taillight bar. The QX80 rides on 22-inch Aluminum Alloy wheels. The third generation QX80 is the first to use the brand’s “Artistry in Motion” design language.
Infiniti made sure the interior measured up to the exterior. The QX80 is comfortable and spacious with three rows of seats. Infiniti offers numerous luxury features, including a massage function for both the first- and second-row seats in the Autograph trim that we reviewed. Heated seats are also offered in the third row. There is an infrared sensor system can detect when a rear-seat passenger is too warm and will automatically direct cool air toward them. Ambient lighting can be adjusted with up to 64 different colors and the center console has a cooling space to chill food and/or beverages. On the topline Autograph trim, the lift-gate can be opened with a foot wave under the rear bumper. A panoramic moonroof has turned into a must have for me, as it adds to the brightness of the interior as well as giving my kids the opportunity to gaze into the sky as we are out and about. They enjoy pointing out planes during the day and stars at night.
The infotainment system in the QX80 is packed with some great features, The interior has two 14.3 in displays for the driver’s instrument cluster and the main Infiniti InTouch® infotainment system with Google built-in. There is also an additional 9 in touchscreen display for the climate controls, front seat cooling and heating functions and the drive mode selection. The Autograph model that we tested came with a 24-speaker Klipsch audio system and mobile hotspot. There is also an imbedded 3D-capable navigation system. The QX80 Autograph comes with a three-zone system that adds rear seat controls. Rear seat passengers get standard floor heating ducts as well as A/C vents.
The QX80 comes with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine producing 450 hp and 516 lb⋅ft of torque paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Autograph model that we tested comes with the Infiniti Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. Infiniti made sure that comfort and luxury were not compromised in this vehicle. The ride is as smooth on long winding roads, as it is on the highway. The engine was not as responsive as I would have liked it in terms of throttle response and passing power. The fuel mileage on the QX80 is pretty decent. EPA fuel economy estimates the Infiniti’s QX80 comes in at 15 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg combined for this AWD versions.
Infiniti has added a great amount of driver assist safety features such as automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. The Autograph model that we tested came with ProPilot Assist 2.1 that features a hands-free driving mode. This system includes standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and available adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode.
The Infiniti QX80 sits in a highly competitive class going up against the Lexus LX600, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and the 2024 Nissan Armada. Infiniti has a competitive warranty package for the QX80, offering a complimentary scheduled maintenance plan good for three years or 45,000 miles, Limited warranty covers four years or 60,000 miles and the Powertrain warranty covers four years or 70,000 miles. We reviewed the top of the line Autograph model Infiniti QX80 that is priced at $112,590.00 , including the $1,995 destination charge.
Overall I enjoyed the Infiniti QX80 Autograph. It definitely measured up to the prestigious Infiniti name. Please enjoy the photo gallery.
