The Red Bull Showrun made its debut in the heart of Washington D.C. and it did not disappoint at all. The week kicked off with a private viewing of the RB7 race car at Intersport Performance in Ashburn Virginia. On Friday the public was invited down to the Red Bull Showrun DC Fan Fest at Union Market and then the grand finale on Saturday was a packed day of motorsports action on Pennsylvania Ave. Legendary driver David Coulthard, the team at Oracle Red Bull Racing and Aaron Colton transformed Pennsylvania Avenue into a race track.
The Fan event showcased the RB7 alongside Red Bull “simulators,” and a fun pit stop area to practice pit stops by changing tires the way the professionals do at races. DJ Domo hosted the event where Dead Dirtt and Red Bull collaborated for a Tshirt giveaway at Somewhere Official (union market location) that were distributed in-store. The event was closed out by performances from IDK and Joonyoftv on the Showrun Fan Fest stage.
The weather was sunny and mild as over 50,000 fans gathered in Washington D.C. on five blocks of the iconic Pennsylvania Avenue as Red Bull Showrun D.C. took over the heart of the American Capital. As far as the eye could see, the visual was fans holding smartphone cameras above their heads to capture the action. Bannister Ford of Marlow Heights showcased three 2024 Ford Lightnings in the front of the Red Bull Paddock area. A special Ford GT3 demo was soon to follow.
The event also had a Subaru Rally Car run with professional driver Scott Speed and a stunt bike show with street freestyle motorcyclist Aaron Colton. Former Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard took the RB7 F1 car up and down the iconic thoroughfare, expertly maneuvering donuts and burnouts to the fans delight.
Pusha T, RG3, Lethal Shooter and other celebs were on site. Red Bull Spiral is celebrating the return of Formula 1 to the U.S. with a special edition cypher featuring Pusha T, Khi Infinite and yvngxchris. The video was shown on the big screens up and down Pennsylvania Ave and was the sound track for the day.
F1 has seen a lot of growth over recent years in the United States and will continue to trend in that direction as the fans are becoming younger and younger.
I do miss the days of the Red Bull Rally Cross race events at RFK, but if this can become an annual event then that void will be filled. Please enjoy the photo gallery.
