We are back again with our tradition of tailgate parties during all home games for the 2025 NFL season at Northwest Stadium, home of the Washington Commanders. From little league up to the Pros, no football game is complete without a proper tailgate party. Ford was gracious enough to make our tailgate festivities complete with the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning.
The parking lot is the stage for fans to come together and celebrate the game with music, good food, beverages and jokes. As usual, tailgating is a fun experience for all involved to prepare for the impending and exciting match about to take place. During this time there was a lot of conversation about how the Ford Lightning is an intriguing truck to have
The 2025 Ford Lightning comes with an extended-range battery that provides 580 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. This powerful setup allows the electric truck to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, with the dual motors and all-wheel drive. The Lightning also has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. The 580-horsepower rating is available on higher trims like the Lariat, which is the one that we reviewed.
The Lightning came in the Lariat trim which includes Box LED Lighting, LED head and taillights, a sculpted hood, 20” alloy dark carbonized gray wheels, and built-in side steps. The model we received came in an Antimatter Blue Metallic hue. I can see why we routinely received comments like “That must be fun to drive”.
The 2025 Ford Lightning is not just a pickup truck. It is comparable to a luxury car with a bed for a trunk. This Lightning was outfitted with the 8-speaker Bang & Olufsen (B&O) sound system. The Ford B&O sound system is premium audio system that features specially designed and tuned speakers, mid-woofers, tweeters, a subwoofer and an amplifier. The Lightning features the SYNC 4A with a 15.5-inch touchscreen. This large screen integrates cloud-based connectivity, Built-In Navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and conversational voice commands.
Patrons got in and out of the Lightning agreeing that it was built tough enough to handle large workloads, and was spacious when it came to the cabin size. A few things stood out about the Lightning. First being the Mega Power Frunk. The frunk provides secure, weather-protected storage for a lot of goods that we carried. The Power up and down tailgate was a hit because it lowered and raised electronically. We were able to power the TV using the Pro Power Onboard. It uses a 9.6kW power outlet for powering many different things. Once it became dark outside the Zone Lighting was extremely useful as the LED lighting illuminated the truck’s surroundings.
The Lightning served as the centerpiece of discussion during the event. The crowd was festive and ready to cheer on their respective teams. We are looking forward to more tailgate parties with Lightning next year. Enjoy the photo gallery.
