Buick is known as one of the budget friendly yet reliable automotive brands. The Buick Envista Avenir looks to keep the same reputation. The Envista is a compact crossover SUV that launched in 2023 from General Motors. The Envista is manufactured in Changwon, South Korea by GM Korea and in China by SAIC-GM.
Upon first look you will notice the cinnabar metallic hue that our test model came in. The Envista Avenir comes with a black Ice chrome grille, split design LED headlights and body-color lower front and rear fascias. The LED taillamps have clear lenses give the Envista Avenir yet another way to stand out. The Envista Bright gray Avenir Premium 19-inch alloy wheels. The Envista is a sleek and sporty designed fastback SUV. With this sporty design it was flattering to hear many people compare it to the Lamborghini Urus.
The Envista is comfortable fit for five people with good headroom. The interior of the Envista features a single panel combining an 8-inch screen for driver instruments and an 11-inch color HD infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM and Apple CarPlay are offered, as well as over-the-air updates and a surround-sound audio system.
Driving around the 2024 Buick Envista Avenir is really fun. The Envista is powered by a turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline straight-three engine that kicks out 136 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Envista is offered in three trim levels: Preferred, Sport Touring and the Avenir. All models are front-wheel drive. The front suspension uses McPherson struts while the rear suspension uses a compound crank semi-independent twist beam rear suspension with a Watts linkage that is standard on the Avenir model that we reviewed.
The Envista isn’t made for speed but it handles the road comfortably and quietly. If a pure sport version was to be released with a much stronger engine, I think it would do well in the market of those that want to unleash the power on the highway. Gas mileage on the Envista is pretty good. According to the EPA, the Envista should get 28mpg in the city, 32 on the highway and 30 mpg combined.
Safety is a big deal to the Buick family. All Envistas come with a driver-assistance features such as automatic high-beam headlamps and automated emergency braking. Buick Driver Confidence and optional Advanced Safety packages, include key safety features such as standard automated emergency braking, an HD rear camera, forward collision alert, standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and much more.
The Envista sits in a competitive class going up against the Nissan Kicks, the Mitsubishi Outlander, the Chevrolet Trax, the Kia Soul, the Mazda CX-30 and the Volkswagen Taos. Buick’s standard warranty package includes a limited warranty that covers three years or 36,000 miles, a powertrain warranty that covers 5 years or 60,000 miles and complimentary scheduled maintenance that is covered for the first visit. The 2024 Envista Avenir that we tested comes in at $31,430.00 which is a bargain as you see the price of cars rising every year. I would like to see a sport focused model with increased HP, dual exhaust and a sport style interior to spread this vehicle demographic out a bit more. Please enjoy the photo gallery.
