The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a mid-sized sport utility vehicle that has come a long way over the years since debuting at the 1992 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. Production of the Grand Cherokee started at the Jefferson North Assembly in Detroit. The model for review this time was the Summit Reserve and this is lauded as the luxurious trim level.

Upon first look, you notice that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve features a black roof, chrome accents, body-colored front and rear bumpers with chrome accents, and chrome side window trim. The model that we reviewed came in a Bright White Clear Hue. The Summit Reserve has LED headlamps, fog lamps, and sits on 21-inch machine face/painted aluminum wheels. I really enjoyed the luxurious look that it has.

The interior of the Grand Cherokee is spacious and luxurious. The Summit Reserve model that we tested has high-quality Palermo leather upholstery, suede headliner, wood accents, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, second-row captain’s chairs, power-folding second and third-row seats. This allows for seating up to 5 people. There is a decent amount of cargo area as well to store luggage when a road trip is on the agenda.

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve has not shortage of offerings in the tech department. There is a 10.1” touchscreen display, a 950-watt, nineteen-speaker McIntosh premium amplified surround sound audio system, a rear seat view camera, a surround-view (360-degree) camera system, an inside fam cam for viewing different seats, a rearview camera digital mirror, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Qi-compatible wireless device charging and a passenger side screen with HDMI interface.

The Grand Cherokee is powered by a 3.6L V6 24V VVT engine with ESS, also known as the “Pentastar” engine, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission 8HP50. The “ESS” in the name refers to the “Engine Stop-Start” system. This engine is known to produce good power, good on gas and reliable. The ride is smooth and it handles very well. It accelerates fast for a SUV. Not enough to snatch the change out of your pocket but it will get the job done. The EPA estimated fuel economy for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve is 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Safety is important as the Jeep offers automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control driver-assistance. There is also semi-autonomous driving modes that are high in demand.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee goes up against a competitive class such as the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Toyota 4Runner and the Ford Bronco. The Audi Q8, BMW X6 and Mercedes Benz GLE can be included in this conversation as well. The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve comes with a comprehensive warranty package. This includes a 3-year/36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, and an 8-year/80,000-mile Emissions Warranty. Roadside Assistance is included along with being enrolled in the Jeep Wave program. The Jeep Wave program includes worry-free maintenance and dedicated support for the first 36 months of ownership, that includes oil changes and tire rotations. Even at $72,605, including all of this ties into why I say that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve comes in at a bargain. Please enjoy the photo gallery.
