The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the longest standing vehicles around and has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. It is globally known as being a reliable vehicle. This go around I had a chance to get behind the wheel of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD Wagon Hybrid model.

Upon first look you can see that the 2024 Land Cruiser has a rugged body style, that screams to be taken off road. The model that we reviewed came in a Smoky Blue hue. The Land Cruiser has automatic headlights, LED fog lights, “TOYOTA” Heritage front grille, square side mirrors and athletic fender flares and a sunroof. On the roof sits a rugged roof rack that helps with carrying more gear while being out on the road. The Land Cruiser sits on 20 – inch alloy wheels.

Looking around the interior of the 2024 Land Cruiser, you quickly realize that there is a lot going on with all the various drive controls and buttons. The cabins of the Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia are a bit more lavish than the Land Cruiser being that this is mainly an off-road vehicle. The interior wears additional badging as well as SofTex trimmed seats, navigation and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The center console is big enough for a lot of various personal items. The cabin is spacious and family-friendly.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen houses a digital meter with selectable gauge display screens and fuel economy, Driver Assist, vehicle/trip information, and warning messages. The Land Cruiser now has Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. There are plenty of power points throughout the cabin as well that was recognized as a need in previous reviews. Thank you for listening Toyota. The 14-speaker JBL sound system delivers hard hitting bass and a crisp sound.

The Toyota Land Cruiser has an i-FORCE MAX Hybrid Powertrain that combines hybrid tech with a turbo 4-cylinder hybrid engine that kicks out 326 net combined horsepower with 465 lb.-ft. of torque. It has an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission and full-time 4-wheel-drive system. There is also an electronically controlled 2-speed transfer case allows you to select the right amount of torque for your driving conditions. The Land Cruiser allows you to drive in Sport Mode, Eco Mode and Normal Mode. The Land Cruiser handles well, accelerates strong and brakes on demand. I felt that it handled well both on and off road.

Gas mileage with the Land Cruiser is on par with the competition. The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is rated at 22 miles per gallon city, 25 miles per gallon on the highway, and 23 combined. Not great but still a bit better than the other vehicles in the class.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems including features like Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, Proactive Driving AssistPre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full -Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and more. The model that we tested also had additional features such as Blind-spot warning with trailer coverage, Rear cross-traffic warning, Front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, Safe exit warning, Safety Connect, Automatic collision warning, SOS emergency calling, Stolen vehicle locator and Roadside assistance calling.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser sits in a highly competitive class, going up against the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and the Lexus GX. Toyota provides two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance or 25,000 miles, a Limited warranty covers 3 years or 36,000 miles and a Powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles. The model that I tested came in at $71,829.00. The 2024 Land Cruiser is built to maneuver through challenging off-road terrain and as well as tour the open road. Please enjoy my photo gallery.
