The Lexus TX is known as a luxury crossover with flashy styling and comfort. I was excited to get time in the 2025 Lexus TX 500h so that I could see what the buzz is all about. The Lexus TX is a full-size luxury crossover that is the brand’s only three-row crossover SUV. The Lexus TX luxury crossover SUV was revealed on June 8, 2023 and has been produced since September 2023, it is exclusively marketed in North America. With a full week of review time ahead of me, I knew that some good times were in store.
Lexus has a staple exterior design that starts with the spindle grille that is very prominent. This model arrived with a beautiful Nightfall Mica hue. The unique F SPORT exterior trim shows off styling features that include a more distinctive front bumper, F SPORT badging and signature upper and lower grille inserts. The TX 500h sits on to 22-inch F Sport aluminum super chrome alloy wheels. The exhaust tips are integrated into the vehicle’s design. A slim signature L-shaped LED light bar spans the width of the rear. The design is truly refreshing and eye-catching with a jet-inspired roofline.
The interior of the TX 500h is pure luxury. Let’s start off with the massive 14-inch touchscreen along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Lexus offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system features Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity and a Wi-Fi 4G Network hotspot. A wireless charging pad is also standard for keeping devices powered. There is a 21-speaker Mark Levinson PurePlay Surround Sound system with software that adds density to music files to make them sound better.
The TX 500h has a great interior design with a spacious and luxurious cabin. The TX seats seven people and has exceptionally comfortable heated and ventilated, 10-way power adjustable F Sport seats, as well as relaxing rear seats. Cargo space is plentiful with the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats. The TX 500h also includes a panoramic sunroof and a head-up display. The F Sport package that adds an F Sport steering wheel, F Sport gauges, aluminum pedals, scuff plates and paddle shifters. There is also keyless entry/start, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control and a power lift gate.
Driving the 2025 Lexus TX 500h F Sport Performance Luxury AWD is a pleasurable experience. The TX 500h is powered by a hybrid powertrain that has a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that deliver 366 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. It is All Wheel Drive too, so that brings a sense of comfort for the winter time. Lexus gives the TX 500h a smooth powertrain and compliant chassis which makes it quiet and comfortable. An F Sport bundle adopts adaptive variable suspension as well as remaps the steering. The TX 500h has a drive-mode selector that varies powertrain performance through Normal, Eco, and Sport modes. The F Sport version get additional Customized, Sport S, and Sport S+ modes.
Fuel Economy is pretty decent as the TX 500h checks in at 27 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway and 27 mpg combined. Lexus offers an economy drive mode that cuts down on climate control and softens throttle response. The Lexus TX 500 hybrid posts impressive gas mileage ratings and is competitive in its class.
The 2025 Lexus TX 500h has been partially tested by the IIHS, receiving a “Good” rating in the moderate overlap front crash test and an “Acceptable” rating in the small overlap front test. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has given the 2025 Lexus TX 500h an overall five-star safety rating. The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 comes with a suite of driver-assistance features such as Forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Forward automatic emergency braking, Lane departure warning with steering assist, Adaptive cruise control, Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, Automatic high-beam headlights and more.
Key competitors to the Lexus TX 500h are the Acura MDX, Volvo XC90, Lincoln Aviator and the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid. The Lexus TX spans a broad range from luxury to sport.
