This week we were able to get behind the wheel of the 2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz Pro S Plus. I host a lot of car shows and this one has a cult following. The ID Buzz is a retro styled minivan that is inspired by the Volkswagen Microbus also known as the Splitscreen or Splittie. This is one of the most nostalgic vehicles to come out of the 60’s era, so to get a chance to drive it is great.
The model that we tested came in a stunning Pomelo Yellow and Candy White hue with a copper leather interior. The front of the ID Buzz is slopes more than the original van. I loved how the van had the illuminated front logo equipped with LED lighting. The model that we tested has the power-operated sliding side doors and a hands-free option to open rear liftgate. The ID Buzz is a definite attention grabber. Onlookers from all ages stopped me to talk about it and look in it.
The 2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz Pro S Plus came with the single electric motor powering the rear wheels that produced 282 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The ID Buzz is peppy off the line and handles well in turns. The Buzz is overall fun, quiet and comfortable.
The technology within the ID Buzz ranks as one if it’s highlights. The Harmon Kardon premium audio system with the subwoofer astounded me. The sound was so crisp with deep hitting bass moved my body like only a Harmon Kardon system could. Volkswagen equips the ID Buzz with a 12.9 inch full-color touchscreen in the center dash and a 5.3-inch ID. Cockpit digital instrument cluster. I was able to use the touchscreen to operate the HD Radio, SiriusXM, navigation, my phone and numerous voice control options.
The ID Buzz also has Head-up Display that displays the speed, navigation and some driver assistance alerts. There is an Overhead View Camera and a Dynamic Road Sign Display. The vehicle also offers a Wi-Fi Hotspot and 45W USB-C charging ports throughout the whole bus to keep devices powered up. There is also a 15W Qi wireless charger that is located in the front row for phones.
The 2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz Pro S Plus sits in a highly competitive class, giving consumers a wide array of options to choose from such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and the Rivian R1S. These vehicles are what was seen as the future for the EV class in the industry, what is now viewed as shaky at best.
The 2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz Pro S Plus that we tested comes in a bit high at $66,495.00 after all the options, delivery and fees. A lot of feedback that I received from enthusiasts at my car shows were that they would feel more comfortable purchasing it in the $30K – $40K price range. This is an electric vehicle, so of course there were comments about the range. The 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pro S Plus offers an EPA-estimated range of 234 miles of range. 90 in the city and 75 on the highway.
The 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pro S Plus includes a 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, a 8-year/100,000-mile High-Voltage Battery Warranty, 2 years/20,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, and 3 years/36,000 miles of roadside assistance. Volkswagen’s Roadside Assistance services including Towing, Collision towing, Flat tire service, Lock-out service, Fuel delivery service, Out-of-Charge service (EV), Battery jump start and Trip interruption benefits. There is also a 4 years/50,000-mile Powertrain Warranty and 84 months/100,000-mile Corrosion Perforation Warranty. Volkswagen offers complimentary Car-Net Safe & Secure connected vehicle emergency services for 5 years.
All in all, this is fun, fast and reliable vehicle. Volkswagen ran into a bit of a stumble with the ID Buzz because it was recalled in April 2025 because the third-row seats allowed three passengers to squeeze into a space that only had two seat belts. I truly believe that if it is made into a hybrid, the sales will soar. Enjoy the photo gallery.
